Six months from now, we'll be looking this one dead in the beak. After a career consisting, so far, of grim drama after grim drama, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's next feature will be Birdman, a comedy about a washed-up actor who once played a popular movie superhero, a role being inhabited by a game Michael Keaton. Fox Searchlight, which is a dab hand with comedies like this, has set a US release date of the 17th of October, which seems ideal for a project like this, potentially eyeing awards consideration. One award it likely won't be eyeing is the Palme d'Or, since it's reportedly going to be in post-production until after the festival has wrapped, although the film confusingly already has an MPAA rating. The cast is full of recognisable faces, such as Keaton, Naomi Watts, Amy Ryan, Emma Stone, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Bill Camp and Zach Galifianakis, courtesy of ace casting director Francine Maisler.
