Gregg Araki may not be the world's most talented filmmaker, but he's got a devoted fanbase, not least for being one of the leading figures in New Queer Cinema. White Bird in a Blizzard looks to be his latest cult item, but with a naked Shailene Woodley, riding on the success of Divergent atm, and Eva Green playing her mother, this could be one of his biggest successes with audiences. The film has been picked up, after screening in January at Sundance, by Magnolia Pictures, who have made a name for themselves in recent years distributing slightly offbeat, mainstream-arthouse fare. They aim to release it later in 2014 in the US.
