In 23 days, on the 24th of April, the 57th San Francisco International Film Festival gets under way. It'll conclude on the 8th of May. And the lineup has been announced: among premieres, Hossein Amini's The Two Faces of January, Jalil Lespert's Yves Saint Laurent (the first of two YSL biopics this year, and the less hotly-anticipated) and the director's cut of Patrice Chereau's Queen Margot will make their US debuts. The festival's New Voices in Latin American Cinema section will feature The Amazing Catfish (pictured above), which I posted a trailer for earlier today, and popular festival favourite Bad Hair. Honorary awards include the George Gund Craft of Cinema award, which will go to John Lasseter, and the Founders Directing award, which will go to Richard Linklater, who's set to have an even bigger year than last, with immense critical praise for his new feature Boyhood. And the festival centrepiece will be Gia Coppola's Palo Alto, starring Emma Roberts and James Franco.
