SEAN PENN AND CHARLIZE THERON TO PARTNER FOR THE LAST FACE

Lovebirds Sean Penn and Charlize Theron, who both took to the Oscar stage on the same night in 2004, are set to collaborate on his next project as director. It's called The Last Face, where Charlize will play a humanitarian relief doctor in war-torn Africa who falls for a colleague, played by Javier Bardem. The script is by Erin Dignam, who directed Sean's ex Robin Wright in one of her breakthrough roles in 1990's Denial. River Road's Bill Pohlad will produce; Pohlad has been behind films such as Penn's last film as director, Into the Wild, Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life, which earned him an Oscar nomination and in which Penn starred, and the recent Best Picture Oscar winner, 12 Years a Slave, though Pohlad was not among the Academy's credited producers. Adele Exarchopoulos is on board to star as well, and is reported to be playing a journalist.
