FIRST LOOK AT TIM BURTON'S BIG EYES

It's a bit strange to look ahead to a Tim Burton film and consider it a potential Oscar contender, especially of late. We thought he'd score with Sweeney Todd in 2007; he deserved to, alas. But the buzz is big on Big Eyes: the Weinsteins have control of this, and they've bravely set it for a Christmas Day release in the US. Also, the film stars Oscar favourites Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz, and, as a period biopic, ought to appeal to voters. It also ought to appeal to me, as Burton's best films usually do. These are the first two official images from the film, about artist Margaret Keane in the 1950s and '60s, to be distributed online.
