Standout performers are the order of the hour with the Virtuoso Award from the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. While it's so often criticised (mostly by myself) for baiting attention with its high-profile, Oscar-likely award recipients, who can complain about their choices for this particular honour? The 2015 Virtuoso Award will be presented to Chadwick Boseman for Get On Up, Ellar Coltrane for Boyhood, Logan Lerman for Fury, David Oyelowo for Selma, Rosamund Pike for Gone Girl, J. K. Simmons for Whiplash and Jenny Slate for Obvious Child at the festival's ceremony on the 1st of February. SBIFF 2015 runs from the 27th of January to the 7th of February.
