Needless to say, the Hollywood hills are streamed with people too high up on the hillside to feel their feet on the ground. The Producers Guild of America takes a serious step toward divorcing itself from real life with its nominees for the best films of 2014, where it sees space to snug Ava DuVernay's Selma in favour of trash like Birdman, The Imitation Game and The Theory of Everything, not to mention Clint Eastwood's American Sniper. And Foxcatcher continues its climb back toward the top of people's predictions after weeks of flagging. Winners due on the 24th of January.
