Some are noting that American Sniper missed the USC Scripter's nominees this year, and that that's a good thing. I'd note that The Theory of Everything made it, and that's a bad thing, and that The Imitation Game did too, and that's an ugly thing. But voters followed the critics and chose Inherent Vice; indeed, their five mirrors the current top five on my critical consensus chart. Winners are out on the 31st of January.
