Jon Polito, the actor known to audiences around the world for his many roles in popular films and TV shows for years, has died. He was 65 and had cancer. The sad news that he passed on Friday, the 2nd of September, was announced on Facebook by friend and director John McNaughton. Polito may be most familiar from his frequent work with the Coen brothers, having appeared in five of their films: Miller's Crossing, Barton Fink, The Hudsucker Proxy, The Big Lebowski and The Man Who Wasn't There. He was, however, an extremely prolific actor outside of this collaboration, working with filmmakers such as Ridley Scott, Clint Eastwood and Tim Burton in film, and starring in a variety of successful TV series, such as Seinfeld and Homicide: Life on the Street. We'll greatly miss this award-winning actor, who will be seen in his final role in The Maestro, due next year.
