MAKE-UP ARTISTS AND HAIR STYLISTS GUILD AWARDS SPLIT ACROSS THE BOARD


Kudos to the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild. They're capable of recognizing quality in their craft across a wide variety of titles, and their slate of award winners this year (and that for nominations) makes that quite evident. FANTASTIC BEASTS MAXES OUT WITH MAKE-UP ARTISTS AND HAIR STYLISTS GUILD NOMINATIONS


The Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild has announced its 2016 awards nominations across 23 categories, five of them for film. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them leads with the maximum amount of mentions over the five available categories, taking three nominations, and all of them for makeup artist extraordinaire Fae Hammond! Award winners will be announced on the 19th of February.

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD WINS TWO MAKE-UP ARTISTS AND HAIR STYLISTS GUILD AWARDS


Just as it led the nominations, Mad Max: Fury Road led the award winners at the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild awards. It won two of its three nominations, while other awards were collected by Cinderella, Furious 7 and Pitch Perfect 2. Johnny Depp was on hand to hand out Lifetime Achievement Awards to two very deserving recipients: makeup designer Ve Neill, with whom Depp has worked on several occasions, and hairstylist Yolanda Toussieng. MAD MAX: FURY ROAD LEADS MAKE-UP ARTISTS AND HAIR STYLISTS GUILD NOMINATIONS


Who's surprised? Mad Max: Fury Road takes three nominations from the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild award nominations, leading the field. Guild voters disagreed with the Academy, shunning five of the seven films from its bake-off list entirely, including its two eventual fellow nominees alongside Mad Max. A whole bunch of films all received two nominations. Winners will be announced on the 20th of February. Check out their choices below:
