- ALBERT NOBBS
- ANONYMOUS
- THE ARTIST
- GAINSBOURG: A HEROIC LIFE
- HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART 2
- HUGO
- THE IRON LADY
Seven films now, as usual, in the race for the Best Make-Up Oscar. There'll be three nominations in the end. It's hard to see Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life making the cut out of this selection, although Il Divo managed it previously. A nomination for Harry Potter seems likely - almost like an honorary nomination, and the make-up in that film is prominent, and very good too. The Artist could make it on sheer goodwill for the film. Hugo fits in somewhere in between Harry Potter and The Artist then, in terms of how the make-up might be recognised. Albert Nobbs and The Iron Lady are there for obvious reasons, and I'd love to see Albert Nobbs nominated; The Iron Lady features good make-up too, though.
At present, I'm predicting Albert Nobbs, Harry Potter and The Iron Lady. That may change...in fact, it's likely to.
