Polish director Pawel Pawlikowski came to international attention with 2004's My Summer of Love, which introduced the world to Emily Blunt. His latest film, which won the FIPRESCI prize at TIFF, is Ida, the story of a young nun in 1960s Poland, and her search for identity. The film has been praised for Lukasz Zal's cinematography - Zal's first work in a non-documentary feature. At the London Film Festival, it's one of 13 films competing in Official Competition, only three of which I'm seeing. Despite being one of the lowest-profile films that I'm catching in London, it's one of the films I'm most looking forward to, based on the strong reviews, Pawlikowski's previous work and the trailer, which is below. LFF kicks off tomorrow.

Screw the early reviews and muted response at NYFF, its still one of the most anticipated fall movies.
