Blue Jasmine doesn't even contain enough smoking to warrant mention on its PG-13 rating, but Woody Allen has taken umbrage at India's Ministry of Health's proposals to combat whatever impact the puffing in his latest might have on poor, dumb Indian audiences. Mandatory anti-smoking ads play in theatres before every film containing smoking in India, and a message appears on screen every time a character lights up. And Allen isn't happy about that, being concerned that attention will be drawn away from the on-screen action every time this occurs. Fair enough. So soz India, but Blue Jasmine will not be released round your way.
