BFI LFF PREVIEW: THE STRANGE COLOUR OF YOUR BODY'S TEARS

The final film I'll see while at the BFI London Film Festival is also the film that sealed the deal for me booking the trip. If you've been closely following my blog (and let's face it, who hasn't?!), you might know that I'm a big fan of Helene Cattet and Bruno Forzani, the Belgian directing team who I first noticed from their superb short O is for Orgasm in the horror anthology film The ABCs of Death. So I caught their 2008 feature Amer, and remained equally impressed by the 'neo-giallo' directors' work. And when I found out that their new film, The Strange Colour of Your Body's Tears, was LFF-headed, I booked dem flights! Despite the film having acquired a quality distributor (Metrodome) for UK release, no date has yet been announced, so its screening in London was more than enough to justify a journey to the fest. Reviews weren't unanimously strong out of Locarno, where it premiered, though would they ever be for a hyper-stylised horror / thriller such as this. And I'm certainly excited to see it, as if you can't tell!

  1. Am glad you're able to catch THE STRANGE COLOUR OF YOUR BODY'S TEARS. Didn't know it was playing at LFF. This could take a very long time to hit limited theatres and ages to get on home video.

Top five anticipated of your list -

Blue is The Warmest Color (Obviously, hyper anticipation affair has been for a while since that surreal debut of French trailer. Unperturbed about all the colossal mayhem surrounding it, just don't care. Hoping to hear only the best of the things from it).
The Past ( Farhadi + Bejo + Rahim)
The Strange Color of your Body's Tears ( 27 seconds teaser + SOS hype)
    Borgman ( very intriguing premise)
Ida ( black and white trailer)

Rigor Mortis could be helluva fun. Night Moves looks interesting with a very positive early word.

    1. Lol SOS hype, is that even a thing?! :D

Cor the amount of ongoing drama around Blue Is the Warmest Colour. I didn't think it'd make enough of an impact to affect its Oscar chances, but it just keeps running, so now I think it might.

I've got three more of these previews coming, and I'm sure you'll be anticipating at least two of the films featured in them.

Rigor Mortis does look like bags of fun!
