WHAT'S ON WEDNESDAY - OCT 11-13

Thinking about going to the cinema this weekend? I have some ideas for you.

ESCAPE FROM TOMORROW

Controversial DisneyWorld-set low-budget film Escape from Tomorrow opens in theatres and on VOD on Friday in the US. The bizarre, fantastical satire was shot at DisneyWorld and DisneyLand without permission, and the guerrilla antics of the filmmakers seems to have paid off in a unique, critically-acclaimed film.

CAPTAIN PHILLIPS

Paul Greengrass' films are always hotly-anticipated, and true story Captain Phillips is drawing particularly strong attention. Following positive responses out of the New York Film Festival, reviews from critics have been good and buzz is high on a potential awards contender. Opening Friday in the US, it screens today at the London Film Festival and opens in the UK next Friday.

LE WEEK-END

After showing at several festivals internationally, Roger Michell's Le Week-End receives its first cinema opening anywhere in the world this weekend in the UK and Ireland. Starring Jim Broadbent and Lindsay Duncan, reviews from its world premiere at Toronto were complimentary of the comedy-drama. US audiences will have to wait, though, as it's not released Stateside until the 14th of February 2014.

Not as bad as prior imagined. Could be an enjoyable mess.

    2. You've a way with words, brother. That's more significant, as you know it, than my nomadic film strife. That's the criteria belonging to only specific voices. And more importantly, you're as good as any other good critic there is. Am better off trying to contribute little things. Cheers.
