These are a day late. The first of the season and they're already a day late. Fs. Seven wins for Gravity, including Best Director, with 12 Years a Slave taking just three: Best Picture, and one award for its screenplay and one acting award. 41 years ago, something similar happened with The Godfather and Cabaret. It feels, currently, like Her might win Best Original Screenplay, but I couldn't let American Hustle go home empty-handed. Well, I could. I just don't think the Academy could.
