CANNES DARLING KEN LOACH IS HAILED FOR JIMMY'S HALL

When Ken Loach won the Palme d'Or for The Wind That Shakes the Barley in 2006, it took some people a little by surprise. Just a little though! And it was about bloody time! He returns once more to rural Ireland with Jimmy's Hall, his thirteenth film in competition at the fest. Reviews have been middling to excellent, and another Palme looks unlikely for the British indie giant. Here are reviews from Scott Foundas at Variety, Robbie Collin at The Telegraph, A. A. Dowd at The A. V. Club, Eric Kohn at IndieWire, Geoffrey MacNab at The Independent, Neil Young at The Hollywood Reporter, Jessica Kiang at The Playlist, Peter Bradshaw at The Guardian and David Jenkins at Little White Lies.
