CANNES: SUPPORT FOR SELF-MADE FROM CRITICS

Always encouraging to read good reports on films like Self-Made. The Cannes Critics' Week hit is directed by a woman (Shira Geffen) and hails from Israel, hardly the filmmaking capital of the region, never mind the world. Looks like 2014 will be a banner year for female-directed Israeli comedies, after Talya Lavie's Zero Motivation scooped the top jury prize at Tribeca last month. Here are reviews for Self-Made from Ben Kenigsberg at RogerEbert.com, Jordan Hoffman at Vanity Fair and Clarence Tsui at The Hollywood Reporter.
