It seems mightily unusual that Marion Cotillard has no Best Actress prize to her name from Cannes as yet... I mean, she's even won an Oscar! She may well win one this year though, as she's received raves for her performance in the Dardennes' Two Days, One Night. That is, unless Jane Campion's jury won't give their Palme choice another award, since this is being touted as a new frontrunner for the top award. The Dardennes are already among a very elite bunch of filmmakers to have won the Palme d'Or twice, and are now potentially on the brink of becoming the only ones to have won it thrice, according to Jordan Hoffman in Vanity Fair, Jessica Kiang in The Playlist, Nick James in Sight & Sound, Mike D'Angelo in The Dissolve, Scott Foundas in Variety, Eric Kohn in IndieWire, David Jenkins in Little White Lies, Barbara Scharres in RogerEbert.com, A. A. Dowd in The A. V. Club, Peter Bradshaw in The Guardian and David Rooney in The Hollywood Reporter.
