THE TRIBE WINS CANNES CRITICS' WEEK GRAND PRIZE

Alas, I didn't pick up on enough buzz around The Tribe to post a review round-up on Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy's film. But buzz based on critical clout doesn't always equate to awards success at Cannes, as evidenced by The Tribe's win in the Critics' Week section of the festival. And that's just one prize in three it garnered, in a selection of winners with no major names. I kind of hope Jane Campion pulls the same trick on Saturday as the Critics' Week jury. Full winners right here:

Grand Prix Nespresso
The Tribe (Myroslav Slaboshpitskiy)

Prix SACD
Hope (Boris Lojkine)

France 4 Visionary Award
The Tribe (Myroslav Slaboshpitskiy)

Canal+ Award
Crocodile (Gaelle Denis)

The Sony CineAlta Discovery Prize
A Ciambra (Jonas Carpignano)

Gan Foundation Support for Distribution Award
