SEATTLE FILM CRITICS SOCIETY ANNOUNCES 2016 NOMINATIONS

We are always in safe hands with the Seattle Film Critics Society. Their slate of 2016 nominations is easily among the finest of awards season so far, and will undoubtedly remain that way as the industry side of the race takes over in 2017. With 13th, Elle, The Handmaiden and The Witch adding extra colour and quality to the Best Picture list, you can be sure that the SFCS will pick some highly deserving winners on the 5th of January. MAD MAX: FURY ROAD SWEEPS THE SEATTLE FILM CRITICS SOCIETY AWARDS

You wanted quality, you got it. The Seattle Film Critics Society presented us with a fine slate of nominees last week, and they've followed up finely with their choice of winners. Mad Max: Fury Road sweeps, taking 10 of its 11 nominations; acting winners included Nina Hoss for Phoenix and Mya Taylor for Tangerine; Carol's Phyllis Nagy won the Adapted Screenplay award; The Look of Silence was named Best Documentary of 2015. SEATTLE FILM CRITICS SOCIETY NOMINATIONS MARKED BY WELCOME SURPRISES

The Seattle Film Critics Society has righted a few wrongs with their nominations for 2015 films. Surprises abound, from a Best Picture nomination for Clouds of Sils Maria to acting mentions for Nina Hoss and Mya Taylor, a nomination for When Marnie Was There in Animated Feature, and a major disappointment for Spotlight - only present in two categories: Original Screenplay and Ensemble Cast.
